Seacroft Family Fun Day

In May 2014 Mothers' Union volunteers from churches across Ripon and Leeds for the first time joined volunteers from St James and the Green church in Seacroft and the local community supported by the Leeds Templars Scouting District for a fun filled free family afternoon to celebrate National Family Week.

The vision of the event was to show God's love to families that are struggling on a number of levels, and the vital role Mothers' Union can play as part of the Church of England in helping churches to serve their local communities. Visitors enjoyed a whole range of activities from planting, junk modelling, teddy shy, hook a duck, healthy living, sewing, spirituality, cup cakes, BBQ, scouting circus skills as well as pampering and goodie bags for parents.

Revd Fiona Harrison-Smith, Team Vicar in the Parish of Seacroft and Diocesan Chaplain to Mothers' Union shared that

today was such a fabulous example of what can happen when the church listens to their community and works together in partnership with others like Mothers' Union to transform everyday life for families who are so often written off by society. I pray that those who volunteered found they received as much from us as they gave to us today. Thank you."
